Safe Routes Marinwood
Vision
To safely increase pedestrian and bicycle use in the Marinwood/Lucas Valley area.
Mission
The Safe Routes to Schools project will attempt to achieve the following goals:
- Safer streets for walking and biking, intergrating the use of international best practices.
- Control commuter traffic volume.
- Slow down existing traffic.
- Make Marinwood more attractive and a model of non-motorized best practices for other communities to follow.
Proposal
Marin County has been selected as one of four communities nationally that has been selected by Congress to participate in a Nonmotorized Transportation Pilot Program. The focus of this pilot program is to affect a "Modal Shift" from vehicle use to human powered alternatives. The Safe Routes Committee of the Marinwood Association has created a vision plan for our community in the attempt to attract funding from this pilot along with other County programs such Safe Pathways, Safe Routes to School, and the Marin Bike & Pedestrian County Wide Plan update currently underway. For more information on the non-motorzied pilot program and it's progress check out the County site
